Apbot (codename Marvin #538804) is an Ai moderators in animepaper.net. It took few lines of IM messaging to created him. With rock, paper, scissors & the Point-of-view gun (just a plot device) in his hand he take full control of Animepaper Gallery submission. He can speaks level-2 Japanese, French, German and English.

What happen when the Anti-Virus software is disabled?

I usually disabled my anti-virus software and MS Security Alert Center when I’m working on “processor-consumed projects” (e.g., virtualisation, photoshop).

While waiting for my 300mb project files to finish download. Firefox download progress indicated a 100% to completion (viewable on the status bar) but the downloads complete notices does not pop-up like usual. Its still downloading.

I fiddle around and open Firefox download manager (ctrl+J). There is message saying “scanning files for virus”. The scanning process has no estimate time and its just looping without any indications. I was force to wait for few minutes, minutes become hours, and after an hours later and it still scanning!. I decide to closed Firefox out of frustration. Surprisingly, the download file is saved but I lose few of my hair for wasting time waiting for failed anti-virus scan.

So what it meant by ” Firefox 3 elegantly integrated with anti-virus software” is quite debatable actually.

How to Flush DNS?

Note: Make sure you have close all your Internet Browser before doing this

MS Windows 2000 & XP

1. Press Start + R keys ( this will open the run application windows ).

2. 

   Type: cmd

3. then type : ipconfig /flushdns
4. Wait till it print “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.”
5. then type net stop “dns client”

6. Finally type net start “dns client”

   

MS Windows Vista

1. Click the Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen
2. Click All Programs → Click Accessories
3. Right click on the Command Prompt
4. Select Run As Administrator
5. In the command window type ipconfig /flushdns

Apple Mac

1. Open a Terminal window (in a Finder windows Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal)
2. type lookupd –flushcache

GNU/Linux

1. Open a Terminal window
2. logged in as root (SU)
3. type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart
4. Debian/Ubuntu type: sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart
5. RHEL type: service nscd restart
