WordPress 2.7.1 theme preview fixes

  • wordpress-theme-preview-failedThis came out bit late as its already few week when WordPress 2.7.1 release. WP 2.7.1 now support themes in subdirectory (#8548) . Unfortunately the last changeset for 2.7.1 create a new bug for specific theme name with hyphen (#9244 ↓)

There is a bug in the regex expressions in the preview_theme() function. The hyphen is not escaped, so themes that have hyphens in the directory name cause the function to return rather than continue. Thus, when previewing a theme with a hyphen in the directory, all that is rendered is a white page. ~chrisbliss18

If you are developing theme for WordPress 2.7.1, avoid using hyphen for theme name (replace it with underscore if you must). For those who are using 2.7.1 and need a quick fixes you can grab the patch → #10677. Installation: Download and overwrite theme.php inside wp-includes directory.
