How to Flush DNS?

Note: Make sure you have close all your Internet Browser before doing this

MS Windows 2000 & XP

1. Press Start + R keys ( this will open the run application windows ).

2. 

   Type: cmd

3. then type : ipconfig /flushdns
4. Wait till it print “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.”
5. then type net stop “dns client”

6. Finally type net start “dns client”

   

MS Windows Vista

1. Click the Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen
2. Click All Programs → Click Accessories
3. Right click on the Command Prompt
4. Select Run As Administrator
5. In the command window type ipconfig /flushdns

Apple Mac

1. Open a Terminal window (in a Finder windows Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal)
2. type lookupd –flushcache

GNU/Linux

1. Open a Terminal window
2. logged in as root (SU)
3. type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart
4. Debian/Ubuntu type: sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart
5. RHEL type: service nscd restart

I’m part Animepaper staff, so I’m really proud for this news. For those of you who never been to Animepaper. Animepaper is not a typical Anime or gallery websites. Animepaper is a Social Networking Site for Anime Community dedicated to graphic and web designer.

Common Resolution

Real life and Internet has a common ground, social needs is important factor for all community site. Its not just pure numbers and statistics that differentiate Animepaper than others Anime community site. Animepaper is design wise and tailor towards social community needs. One of the Interesting thing that I’m really fond of is their wallpaper submission systems. As an example, a single submission for a wallpaper, will generate a wide variety of common resolutions. These dynamic resolutions is base on three aspect ratio raging from 4:3, 5:4, to 16:9 (FAQ: Wallpaper Guide). This probably one of the reason why it had been selected by smashing magazine.

There is many interesting stuff you can explore at animepaper but I’ll saved it for another articles another day. If are you are curious, take a short tour.

With the largest collection of anime wallpaper in various resolutions and strong numbers of active members, Animepaper deserved to be highlight on “Smashing Magazine Selected Wallpapers“.

Hosting and Caching

Google will host your content (widget ads) anywhere in the globe.   Its primary used are for serving widget ads but you still can cache any file like flash,youtube video, images, html etc. Some example my site’s css via google.

More on this later. I haven’t fully test google gadget yet so at time being check out the Gadget Ads quick tutorials  and demo gallery.

There is nice search form at the front page. Enter “Animepaper” in the search form.

There is no math involved in this process. We are looking for the best keywords to search the gallery. Below is the results from the single keywords.

The 1st page of the results include a numbers of AP senior member Anime wallpapers.

Solutions

Before somebody sells your artwork as print at flickr, Its better if you do something about it report abuse.

Thats a brief explanation regarding animepaper new gallery, actually there is more features…

• New Commenting systems.

  There is few minor update with animepaper comment system. Others than the oversize “made in asean” emoticons we now have a better spam guard.

  • Flood of Services Filter. Anti-FasterFox & Mass Multi request.
  • Duplicated filter specially made for copy paster. Bantam decide to bring this filter online after the recent DDOS attack.
  • Update the AJAX Quickedit - script.aculo.us inline editor. its now unobtrusive.
  • Clickable emoticons.

• Color theme

  
  ” I’m still having problem counting the number of sections for our Hex Gallery.”
  Another sexy feature. Now you can view specific colors base on the display images, with a single click it will redirect you to Animepaper HEX Colors Gallery. The system works similar like the Tag Clouds but its more accurate and visual appealing.

• Social Bookmarklet

  
  Social bookmark website has been around since the 1996 but not many people aware of it (neither do I). Animepaper members can now promote and share their wallpapers or scans to social bookmark site. You might get better rank with this tools who knows, try it …

• User Mini Gallery

  The “View more …” tabs load all the author images via AJAX request. There is 6 images per page so it wont take long to wait. It will save you more time considering you need to visit the author userpage then click the the view more wall/scans to view the author gallery.

• Similar Images Gallery

  This is something you rarely see anywhere on the Net. Its amazing that Bantam can pull this out. You have no ideas how hard its is. I was like what? %#$? what? What? what? … <- filter ->.

• New BBCODE

  Two latest bbcode in the family. A thumb bbcode ala deviantart.

  I haven’t style the thumb BBCODE, its look rather plain at the time being..

• Micro format.

Instead of throwing away what works today, microformats intend to solve simpler problems first by adapting to current behaviors and usage patterns (e.g. XHTML, blogging).”

  • I’m supporting Tantek Çelik work on giving new life to microformat I believe that the internet and computer language should be written and readable to human not spider or web-bot. Makes more sense that way.

• New Structure

  The new structure is much easier to style than our last version. The inner template is base on Blueprint CSS Framework & its GRID… partially.

Bugtrack

Caching problem, caching bugs can be hard to find because they only occur in really specific circumstances.

“IE Random Unterminated String bug”, I’m not sure what to call this bugs. Its probably a line feed error. Affecting all MSIE browser (40% of the animepaper members). Modern browser like Firefox, Safari, Opera doesnt have this problem. So hopefully some of the members will wise up and try an alternative browser.

Summary

I like the new design, its crisp,solid and not to bright, My ideas is to make it more compact and google friendly. I write the code for the social bookmarklet, hopefully it will bring more backlink to animepaper so we can get better PR. The new duplicate filter is debatable but really useful for Animepaper staff (the only issue is its instant banned). Finally we have two new gallery in animepaper The Hex Colors Gallery and The Similar Gallery. There is some serious math involved with the similar gallery so kudos to bantam.

I haven’t got time to update the userpage XHTML structure so the css is pretty messy right now.

Installation for Animepaper user profile page

Easy peasy, lemon squeazy

1. Create new CSS styles : http://www.animepaper.net/styles/create/
2. set it to “Private“.note: not for public yet
3. Copy the iStalker CSS source file 3224.css and overwrite your default CSS.
4. Open the Profile badges PSD in photoshop. Update the member “join date”, “expiration date” & “birth date”. Set the badges background color to #f9f9f9. Save and upload it to your image host (ie photobucket or imageshack).
5. add the below code in your stylesheet (at bottom most)

   .userheader{ background-image:url(replace-this-with-ur-images-url) ! Important }

   Dont forget to change the “replace-this-with-ur-images-url” with your stalker badges url (yes! the one you upload at your image host).

6. Save your CSS and select active on “userpage“.note: this styles is not compatible for “groups” or “globals” settings.
7. Clear all your browser cached (ctrl+f5 or ctrl+shift+del on firefox) & view the result in your userpage.
8. You are done, do the happy dance and go stalk some few n00b in the forum.
